詳細

What makes Japan such a popular destination to visit right now? Is it the culture? The food? The scenery? Or is it simple economics with a cheap yen?

For many years Japan was seen as 'too expensive and too far'. But international travellers are flocking to Japan in record breaking numbers. From powder snow skiing in the north to beautiful white beaches in the south, the Japanese archipelago has much to offer. Yet most visitors do not stray too far from Tokyo, Mount Fuji and Kyoto. That needs to change and the regions of Japan need to brand themselves much more clearly.

This seminar will look at ways Japan could present a broader yet more clearly defined tourism offer. Japan should be attracting over 50 million visitors a year and we will discuss ways of achieving that.

This seminar is for you if:
- You’re thinking of starting a tourism-related business in Japan.
- You want to be well positioned to capitalise on the legacies of Rugby World Cup 2019 and Tokyo Olympics 2020.
- You work in any industry which has an interaction with tourism: hotels, restaurants, shops and of course cities, regions and destinations from all over Japan.

Format: Interactive seminar (90 minutes) followed by networking session (30 minutes)
Language: English

Speaker: Ashley Harvey is a MBA graduate who has lived in Japan for 8 years in total. He ran VisitBritain in Japan and has advised JNTO, Kyushu Tourism, Osaka City Tourism and Nagoya Tourism as well as lectured to the LDP on Japan as a tourism destination.
