Description

Do you like work meetings? Can’t wait to settle back in your chair and listen to the president outline next year’s growth forecast? Desperately insecure coworkers using jargon to sound intelligent? Maybe a quick dash to the coffee machine during the five-minute break?

That’s right. Every reasonable person hates meetings, and we’re no exception. So we decided to create a better meeting experience. Here’s what we came up with:

No! Dress code
No! Seating plan
No! Agenda items
No! PowerPoint
Yes! Crazy ideas welcome
Yes! Craft beer on tap
Yes! Tasty snacks
Yes! Late arrivals OK

That’s why our AGM this summer will be held at Omohara Beer Forest, a rooftop oasis of shady leaves and gentle mist right on Harajuku Crossing.

Once trapped in our AGM, your only obligation will be to have some fine open-ended discussions about things you’d like to learn and what’s good and bad about the Tokyo professional scene.

Here are some more amazing things you can do at our AGM:

Perch on the elaborate wooden decking.
Imagine you’re aboard an ocean liner steaming through central Tokyo.
Tickle your taste buds with some of Japan’s finest craft beers.
Influence the future direction of Workers University.
Volunteer to give a seminar and almost certainly regret it the next day.

Attendance is free, but please pay for your own drinks and food. Drinks are ¥700 and food prices vary.

Finally, if you could register for the event here on Doorkeeper that would help us to know approximate numbers in advance.

This event is for you if:
- You’re interested in Workers University and would like to talk with others who have experienced similar feelings in a mutually-supportive environment.
- You’re interested in Workers University but you secretly think our seminars are boring and would prefer to hit a bar on Saturdays.

Format: Networking event
Language: English or Japanese
